A major event that residents can attend annually is the Luna Park Chalk Art Festival, which allows communities to bond together over working on art projects, while raising money for K-12 visual and performing arts programs in local schools.

Luna Park Chalk Art Festival

The Luna Park Chalk Art Festival is an annual event held every year by the Luna Park Arts Foundation and the surrounding Luna Park community. In September every year, the residents gather to draw beautiful pieces of chalk art on the sidewalks and paths in San Jose’s Backesto Park. The event also includes a plethora of food trucks, entertainment, and featured artists from all over the Bay Area. The festival raises money for a multitude of events in K-12 schools and the community as a whole, including interactive workshops, visual and performing arts programs in schools, and various other non-profit youth programs in the area.
