Reading it right

  • Neighboring stations share houses. Stops are often less than a mile apart, so their circles overlap.
  • Many homes near light rail are condos, townhomes and apartments, which aren’t in these figures; the live map shows them.
  • Check the service. Lines and frequencies change; check VTA’s current schedule for the stop you’d use.

How we counted

Closed sales of houses (MLS property type “single family home”) between October 28, 2024 and October 27, 2026 in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties, reported to the MLS and read through the IDX feeds that power our home search, with repeat records from different feeds removed (normalized address plus sale date), measured straight-line from each sale’s map position to each station. Condos and townhomes aren’t in these figures because the sold feed doesn’t give their map positions. Past sales aren’t a forecast or the value of any one home.
