Before you buy near a station

  • Listen at rush hour. Homes beside the tracks hear trains and crossing bells; ask whether trains sound their horns at the nearest crossing.
  • Check the parking. Station lots, permit zones and drop-off traffic shape the blocks around a station.
  • Close-in homes are often condos and townhomes, which aren’t in these figures; the live map shows them.

How we counted

Closed sales of houses between October 28, 2024 and October 27, 2026 in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties, reported to the MLS and read through the IDX feeds that power our home search, with repeat records from different feeds removed (normalized address plus sale date), measured straight-line from each sale’s map position to the station. Condos and townhomes aren’t in these figures because the sold feed doesn’t give their map positions. Past sales aren’t a forecast or the value of any one home.
