Blog > Rancho Sans Souci: A Late Eichler Neighborhood in Sunnyvale
Rancho Sans Souci is one of Sunnyvale’s later Eichler neighborhoods. An Eichler publication describes it as a designated Eichler neighborhood under the city’s Eichler design guidelines, and notes a house on Laurentian Way that keeps its original 1968 character.
Our Rancho Sans Souci guide has the streets, recent sales and homes for sale.
That designation matters if you’re planning changes. According to the same publication, exterior changes need a city planner’s approval, and second stories are discouraged but not banned. Rancho Sans Souci has no single-story zoning district, unlike many Sunnyvale Eichler blocks; our guide to second stories on Sunnyvale Eichlers lists the blocks that do.
It wasn’t Eichler’s last South Bay project. Primewood in Sunnyvale was built from 1969 to 1972, and nine homes at San Antonio Court in Los Altos were still under way when Joseph Eichler died in 1974. See every tract we’ve documented in our Silicon Valley Eichler tract index.
