     Brisbane is a small town located near the lower slopes of the San Bruno Mountain and is alongside the Ocean. The population of Brisbane is a little over 4600, so it is a perfect for those who want a smaller, more relaxed town to call home, but also want quick access to the Bay Area's jobs.

     Brisbane's location is also fantastic for those who love outdoor recreation and nature. There are many hiking trails and parks as well as many activities alongside the water.

     Brisbane, was originally opened up in 1908, under the name of Visitacion City. It was extremely small, with only a few streets lined out. 

    The growth of Brisbane was set back when calamity sprang from the grassy slopes of surrounding hills, wiping out everything by fire. Even with this fire,  homes continued to be constructed, one of which was the home of a distinguished Editor, Arthur Brisbane.

    Because the name, "Visitacion City," was similar to that of "Visitacion Valley," a neaby district of San Francisco, a new name was desired for this area. Although the reasoning for why the name "Brisbane" was selected, it seems reasonable that the reasoning was due to Arthur Brisbane being heavily connected to the town.

     Brisbane is called "The city of the stars" due to a holiday tradition established over 70 years ago. Residents would hang illumated stars on their homes over the winter holiday season.
