About University Gardens

University Gardens opened in September 1949, before Eichler’s first architect-designed tract; its homes were drawn by a draftsman remembered only as Castor. The City counts 63 lots on Josina, Kendall and Barron avenues.

The City’s guidelines note that some early models have brick chimneys on the front, and an Eichler history publication points to the complex, interlocking roof planes.
