Homes in Greenmeadow retain their Eichler style, preserved from their original development in the 1950s. Featuring floor-to-ceiling glass and dynamic T-shaped interior plans, 270 homes designed by Joseph Eichler that make up this neighborhood. Residents are proud to live in the most intact area developed wholly by Eichler, which is even larger than the other Eichler neighborhood in Palo Alto, Green Gables.
The neighborhood has its own hyper-local Community Center, which is also designed in the Eichler style to reflect the neighborhood’s roots. The Center offers space for community events like parties, meetings, and classes. It also features a pool and preschool care facility. The community center, which was recently updated with sustainable, genuine linoleum flooring, is structurally and metaphorically an indicator of how strong and unified the neighborhood is as a whole. The Greenmeadow Neighborhood Association is one of the most active in the city and organizes fun events for families every year, including a Fourth of July parade and sporadic food truck festivals.
