Flood Park in Menlo Park is a desirable neighborhood that consists of three sub-areas: Suburban Park, Flood Park, and Lorelei Manor. This post-World War II housing development features homes that date back to the 1940s and 1950s. Residents enjoy oak and bay tree-lined streets, creating a peaceful setting that minimizes noise from nearby Interstate 101.

One of the most attractive features of Flood Park is its convenient location and relative affordability. The neighborhood is situated in eastern Menlo Park, bounded by Marsh Road to the north and Highway 101 to the east. It offers easy access to Silicon Valley’s prime artery, making it an excellent option for commuters.

Flood Park’s centerpiece is Flood County Park, a twenty-one-acre expanse with baseball and softball fields, tennis courts, a petanque court, horseshoe pits, volleyball courts, and plenty of lawn and trails. It’s a popular place for residents of Flood Park and surrounding neighborhoods to gather for sports or to enjoy open space.

Each of the three sub-areas of Flood Park Triangle has a similar housing and demographic composition, with homes typically being three-bedroom, one-bath bungalows sitting on lots of approximately 6,000 square feet. Second bathrooms were added on to provide further functionality in some homes.

Suburban Park, Lorelei Manor, and Flood Triangle are tightly knit communities that provide a relatively affordable place to live in Menlo Park. Family-friendly is how many residents describe the area, with neighborhoods full of families with small children, couples hosting parties in cul-de-sacs, and original homes from the 1950s.

Suburban Park is known for hosting holiday parades and a special street dance, while Lorelei Manor has its active homeowners’ association and is an early adopter of the Next Door social media app. The Flood Triangle is another popular place to live because of its amenities and peaceful nature.

Some of the challenges of living in the Flood Park neighborhood include the cut-through traffic from Marsh Road that can contribute to commuters driving at high speeds. However, residents work with the city to address these issues, making the neighborhood a welcoming and community-oriented place to call home.

Flood Park is a desirable neighborhood in Menlo Park that offers affordable living, convenient access to Silicon Valley, and a peaceful setting with easy access to the outdoors. It’s a great place for families and those looking for a close-knit community
