The 42-acre “village within a city” was developed as a luxury, mixed residential and shopping district between 2001-2002 for a grand total of $450 million. At the time regarded as “the most ambitious project of its kind in the United States”. Santana Row was named Frank M. Santana, who served on San Jose’s planning commission in the 1950s. The site was previously a Town and Country Village. Santana Row was designed by SB Architects, BAR Architects, Steinberg Architects, and landscape architects. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Santana Row offers a mix of brand name shops, offices, living, local boutiques, restaurants, spas, salons, a theater, and a hotel. Notable shops include Amazon Books, Best Buy, B8ta, Crate & Barrel, The Container Store, and Tesla. Nearby you can find Valencia Park, Santana Row Park, and Frank M. Santana Park.

During construction on August 19, 2002, the largest building at Santana Row, Santana Heights, caught fire. The fire caused $130 million in damage, and embers spread to at least 13 apartment buildings nearly a mile downwind of the shopping center on Moorpark Avenue, across 280. It was the largest structure fire in San Jose’s history.

Home prices in the 95128 zip code around Santana Row average at $1,221,916 as of January 2021 featuring about 615 luxury rental homes, 219 privately owned condos. Elegance and style shine at Santana Row, the Rodeo Drive of Silicon Valley. You’ll find upbeat energy throughout the beautiful Mediterranean-style shopping and entertainment district every day of the week.
