Absent of streetlights and rolling with hills, the Los Trancos Woods / Vista Verde neighborhoods are a serene escape filled with more wildlife than people. The two neighborhoods, though adjacent and very similar, are governed by neighborhood associations; though in recent years, have begun collaborating more often on local events and issues. Each year, the two communities host two fun gatherings, a “spring fling” and a summer picnic.
The Los Trancos Woods fill a unique space in the region. Adjacent to Foothills Park and bordered by Page Mill, Alpine Rd, and Los Trancos Rd, it’s in a spot most people don’t get the chance to venture to often. Many happen upon the neighborhood by chance, looking for trails and scenic nature. Though the area is in close proximity to Palo Alto and sits at the edge of Santa Clara County, the neighborhoods are still technically an unincorporated community. Students in the area can be assigned to the Palo Alto, Sequoia, or Portola Valley school district depending on their location in the neighborhood.
