Midtown Palo Alto Neighborhood information

Located right in the middle of Palo Alto and bound by Oregon Expwy, US Route 101, Alma St, and Loma Verde Ave, Midtown is one of Palo Alto’s larger and older neighborhoods. Most homes here were developed post-WWII in California’s suburban boom. Most feature Rancher or Eichler styles, retaining their original, traditional character with just a few newer two-story renovations that add a dash of young modernity.

Although Midtown was developed with more structure than wholly unplanned neighborhoods like College Terrace, there is still variation in home and lot size (ranging from 6000 to 8000 sq ft). That, of course, means they vary in price, making the neighborhood an all-around diverse spot for homebuyers of every type. And Midtown is certainly a homebuyer’s location — though there are a scattering of condos and apartments for rent, most people attracted to this area are looking to settle down with permanence. That contributes to the neighborhood’s tight, familiar community feel that attracts so many of the families here.

Midtown is additionally exceptional for its suburban-esque commercial amenities — the Midtown Shopping Center right in the neighborhood offers businesses from pharmacies and convenience stores to coffee and dining. The neighborhood also features two parks, Greer Park and Henry Seale Park, both which offer neat spots for recreation. On the western end of the neighborhood, access to the Caltrain station is just a walk away.
